Very Basic Computer Classes

Description
We have offered Very Very Basic Computer Classes utilizing the equipment provided thru this project. Our most enthusiastic response has come from our class size...2 students, 1 teacher. We have promoted it as a 'non-intimidating class, where you can come as a husband/wife team, or as 2 friends; relax and learn what everyone's talking about'. The teacher is self-taught on computers, therefore not using too many of those 'mind-boggling terms'.

In 2 days since this hit the local news, we have 70 people signed up for class...this is even more interesting because there are a number of Computer Classes available locally...from what we have gathered, many Seniors felt they knew too little to take these classes, or might feel uncomfortable asking a question there.

Note: the age range is about 57 to 89 yrs old.

Our classes start in less than a week. Also I have the informal lesson plans available if anyone wants them.

We also have had some interest from more advanced-computer-experienced seniors to help teach the basic course...and we are gathering others to volunteer where they can...this is probably the best marketing program we have run!

Webmaster Jeanne Hugenbruch now has their web site up and reports that "We have more of an attitude that 'Laughter keeps the Heart Young' that we want to reflect in our web site.

We are getting our Seniors knowledgeable enough (thru our classes here) that they will soon be taking the site over... I expect at that point that there will be even more humor on the site...we sure are having fun with this program!
