Day of Relaxation
Description/Overview
As part of a month long program on Stress Relief , the Charles T. Adams
Senior Center hosted a Day of Relaxation at the center. Members and their
families and friends were invited to enjoy an afternoon of pampering with
soothing music and chair massages.
Time and Manpower
Manpower and time were minimal with two staff members needed to print and
distribute fliers and contact local newspapers and one staff member to conduct
chair massages.
Marketing
Fliers, ad in local newspaper, word of mouth, invite family and friends of
members. Colorful fliers posted in windows bring attention to center also
mailing out fliers to absentee members with upcoming events will bring them back
in, newspaper advertisements reach a lot of possible new members and volunteers
and word of mouth goes a long way.
Audience Served
Senior Citizens and their families and friends.
Partnerships Utilized
Equipment was supplied free of charge by local Massage Therapists and local
newspapers advertised event.
Budget/Costs
There was no cost for this event, fliers were printed at the center, the
local newspapers provided free advertisement and all equipment needed was
supplied by local Massage Therapists.
Impact On Center
Free chair massages where made available to the seniors of the Charles T.
Adams Senior Center, the members enjoyed their day of relaxation and learned the
benefits of Massage Therapy. Members where encouraged to invite friends and
family to the event who became members and volunteers after spending the day
with us. The program opened up a partnership with area Holistic and Massage
Therapists to conduct a larger Day of Relaxation in the future.
Good Tips/Other
Reach out to area businesses to conduct programs at your center it brings
new experiences to the members and opens up valuable relationships with area
businesses. Also utilizing the skills of staff and members is an excellent way
to host a cost efficient event.
