Wednesday Afternoon Jam Session

Category: Festive Meals/Different Foods

Title:

Three King's Day

Description

The food each year is from a different Latino region, such as Argentina, Mexico or Puerto Rico.  Music has been provided by Latino guitars players from a neighboring center. Our center director, Maria Ramiez is Latino and gives an overview of the holiday and it's traditions. She does some Salsa dancing with members. Lively Salsa music plays in the background as members sample the food buffet.

Target Audience

Bringing together Caucasian (majority) and Latino (miniority) populations at the center to enjoy a social holiday observed mainly by the Latino members. Introduce to others the rich culture and history through sharing food, music and dance.

Organizations

Center membership. Sister centers.

Budget

$50.00-$ $75.00

Impact

Great. Inclusive. Brings together cultures that are shy about mingling. Educational also. Everyone enjoys good food and good music. We plan to expand this new tradition now in it's second year.
